Kayunga District stakeholders held a sensitization meeting on public health aproach to key populations programming for creation of an enabling environment.

MARPI Mulago is spear heading intervation for key populations across the country.

MARPI is currently implementing a project titled "Uganda Health Consortium with local CSOs."

The Project is aligned to the National HIV and Aids strategic plan of increasing productivity and inclusiveness of the population so as to end HIV /Aids as an epidemic by 2030.

The main objective of the meeting was making us understand and find possible ways of fighting HIV /AIDS in different areas.

Identifying the target population and how best it can be done despite challenges.

The average prevalence of HIV among adults aged 15 - 49 is 5.8% and Uganda as a whole is 5.5%

Mrs Majorine from MARPI Mulago said the magnitude of HIV burden in Uganda with PLHIV is 1,430,000 and close to 1,300,000 on Art.

She urged stakeholders most especially religious leaders, politicians and security forces to sensitise community on HIV /Aids so as to achieve the 2020- 2021 to 2024 - 2025 strategic plan of ending HIV and Aids as an epidemic by 2030.
