DRIP MICRO SCALE IRRIGATION

A Team of District leaders and Technical staffs commissioned the UGIFT micro scale irrigation programme at Musiitwa Seed School in Nazigo Subcounty. The RDC presided over the commissioning and was impressed by the project. He urged Head teachers and LC3 Chairperson to use the scheme as a demonstration garden to sensitise community and adopt irrigation. This approach will help people out of poverty since Agriculture is the backbone of the country.

INTERNATIONAL NEEDS UGANDA SUPPORTING FARMERS IN KAYUNGA DISTRICT

International Needs Uganda is supporting farmers in Kayunga District with assorted farm inputs and machinery at Parish level.

A total of 2500 farmers in the 10 parishes of Katikanyonyi, kirindi, Lusenke, Nampanyi, Kasana, Namukuma, Namirembe, Nabuganyi, Kiwangula and Namusaala make up the Beneficiaries list.

Since last financial year, the following items were distributed 9 Maize Threashers, 3 solar powered irrigation equipment, 44000 fish fingerings and feeds to Nampanyi fish farmers group, a livestock feed Machine among others.

LAUNCH OF BUSUNGIRE-NAMALERE-LUKUNYU ROAD

The District leadership together with the NRM Chairperson Kayunga District and District Technical staff convened for a meeting in Galiraya Subcounty.

The purpose of the meeting was to guide and plan for the 8km Road network of Busungire-Namalere-Lukunyu.

The scope of work includes Bush clearing, Road widening, grading, compaction among others and its estimated cost is 49M Shillings.

The Chief Administrative officer urged residents to take children to school who are engaged in fishing amidst school opening.
