Launch of Sanitation and Hygienic week for Bbale Sub county in Kayunga District.

Kayunga District launched it's annual campaign on sanitation and hygiene week under the theme " Sanitation and Hygiene for all a key to sustainable health living" in Bbaale Subcounty.

 

The campaign focuses on increasing awareness and advocacy for sanitation in institutions, public places and homes through home improvement campaign.

 

The campaign will be carried out in kabaku and Bbaale east villages of Bbaale Subcounty.

 

Key activities during the sanitation week.

 

1. Community mobilisation and awareness campaign for sanitation.

 

2. Community and Household clean up.

 

3. Intensified refuse management. 

 

4. WASH in health facilities and schools advocacy like meetings and stakeholders dialogue.

 

5. Cleaning and maintenance of public places. 

 

6. Improved waste water management. 

 

7. Advocacy for basic sanitation and hygiene.

 

Requirements for an ideal home include

 

1. Good latrine with a super structure.

 

2. Good main house with no leakage. 

 

3. Good kitchen with door shutters. 

 

4. Safe water chain up to the drinking point. 

 

5. Good latrine with privacy. 

 

6. Good drying rack with a soak pit.

 

7. Animal house for households with animals.

 

The District councilor thanked the health team since the toilet coverage in Bbaale has increased from 65% to 76% and also reminded them to renew their National IDs before they expire.

 

The RDC urged residents to support the NRM government for it's achievements most especially the water coverage destined to reach all households as in the NRM manifesto.

 

He urged residents to embrace government programs like PDM and sleeping under mosquito nets to prevent malaria.

 

He further encouraged them register their children for the police on going recruitment exercise.
