KEY DISTRICT PROJECTS

Kayunga  district is benefiting from various projects;

ZONAL INDUSTRIAL PARK

Zonal industrial park is a project being implemented by the State House as the lead agency and coordinated by the Ministry of Local Government. Kayunga District was selected as the  host district for the construction of cottage and value additional industries in Nazigo subcounty , for all the eleven districts that make up Mengo zone i.e Kayunga, Wakiso, Mukono, Mpigi, Nakasongola, Luwero, Buikwe, Buvuma, Gomba, Butambala & Nakaseke

It’s a Presidential Initiative geared towards skilling the youth, women and industrialization of the economy. The government through State house will provide all the necessary machinery needed in the establishment of cottage and value addition industries and also train the selected youth from the 11 districts in different skills and also how to use these equipments.

EXPANSION AND MAJOR RENOVATION OF KAYUNGA GENERAL HOSPITAL

Kayunga general hospital expansion and major renovation is in progress, whereby construction of the main administration offices, storied doctors’ house, internees apartments, modern theatres, wards , equipping the hospital with modern medical equipments, an ambulance, service van and an omni bus among others and renovation of all the existing structures is nearing completion, whereby completed work is at 80%.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Health and constructed by Arab Contractors.

 BUGOBERO PIPED WATER SUPPLY SCHEME

A mega multi billion piped water supply project (Busaana- Kayunga) is being constructed by the Ministry of Water and Environment in Bugobero village- Busaana Sub county, tapping water from River Nile. When completed its expected to serve the neighboring districts of Kamuli, Buikwe and Mukono

 YOUTH LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM

The Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) is a revolving government program geared towards empowering the youth to harness their socioeconomic potential, increase self-employment opportunities and income levels. Since Financial Year 2016/17 to present, about 121 youth groups have been supported with a sum of UGX 907,156,850 and have established both livelihood and skills development income generating projects.

SOCIAL PROTECTION GRANT/ SAGE

 Kayunga District is also benefiting from this program, whereby eligible older persons are given a monthly pay of shs25,000. Since the inception of the program shs 723,850,000 has so far been provided to 837 older persons.

All older persons above 80 years are eligible for benefiting from this program. On this note, more 2340 older persons have been enrolled into the program.

UGANDA WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (UWEP)

UWEP is also a revolving government program offering free interest loans to women groups. The District has so far received shs 529,553,118 to 122 projects and 1860 women .

 PARISH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

The district is also benefiting from the Parish Community Association (PCA) model, which is implemented by the Office of the prime Minister, whereby financial support is being loaned out to organized groups in Ntenjeru North constituency as a pilot jurisdiction, however in future, the project will be scaled out to other constituencies in the district. The district has so far received shs 503,000,000 that has been provided to community groups in the sub counties of Busaana in the pilot parishes of Kasana, Lusenke, Kiwangula, Namusala, Namirembe, Namukuma ; Kayunga Sub county in the pilot parishes of Nsotoka, Buyobe, Bukoloto, Nakaseta, Bukujju, Kiteredde, Busale and Kayunga Town Council in the pilot parishes of Kayunga Central, Bukoloto ward and Namagabi.
