KAYUNGA DISTRICT COUNCIL HANDS OVER KAYUNGA DISTRICT HOSPITAL TO MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Kayunga District council has approved the upgrading Kayunga District hospital to a regional refferal hospital and also handed it over to the Ministry of Health.
In a council meeting that has been presided over by the District Speaker Hon. Bulinson Saleh, the council has also approved the upgrading of Bbaale H.C.IV to a District hospital to replace Kayunga District hospital.
Kayunga hospital is among the two district hospitals i.e Nebbi and Kayunga that have undergone major rehabilitation and expansion since 2018 and on completion , the district budget can nolonger accomodate the maintenance of this hospital and its against this background thta the district council had to hand it over to the centre for effective management.
The project has costed approximately 70 billion Ugandan shillings , funded by the Saudi Fund for Development,, Arab for Economic development in Africa and Fund for International Development and the Government of Uganda.
The contract was awarded to Arab Contractors who have almost finished doing th e works and remaining with equiping the hospital with the necessary equipments.
