KAYUNGA DISTRICT COUNCIL APPROVES BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR FY 2022-23

Kayunga District Council has approved its budget estimates for the Financial Year 2022/2023 totaling to shillings 47,280,346,849 of which Shs 44,072,907,946 is expected from the Central government, Shs 1,212,330,332 as other government transfers, Shs 862,000,000 as locally generated revenue and shs 1,212,330,332 from donors.

While presenting the budget estimates the Secretary for Finance Hon.Oyeyo Moses explained that 90% of the budget will be funded from the central government releases.

 In his address, the District Chairperson, Muwonge Andrew , informed council that the District was among the food insecure Districts despite having a comparative advantage than other Districts in terms of land, labour and a conducive environment and therefore called upon members to mobilize their electorates to grow more food which he said will not only increase on food production but it will also enhance on house hold income.

In the same event, the staff structure for the newly created Town Councils of Kangulumira, Nazigo, Busaana and Kitimbwa was also approved whereby each town council would have a staff establishment of 42 staff.

The meeting was presided over by the District Speaker Hon.Bulinson Saleh who argued members to ensure that they monitor government projects being implemented in their constituencies.
