HIV DIALOGUE AS ONE OF THE PRE-EVENT FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF WORLD AIDS DAY IN KAYUNGA DISTRICT

Preparations for the commememoration of the National World AIDS day in Uganda  to be held in Kayunga District, Busaana Sub county headquarters, tomorrow Sunday, 1st December 2019 are in the final stages.

According to the District Chairperson, Mr Sserwanga Tom, the District is ready to host the day and everything is hoped to move on well, whereby the President of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be the Chief Guest.

Today, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation has held a live radio and television talkshow as one of the pre-events for the commemoration of AIDS day, whereby the leadership of Kayunga district and the community dialogued about issues pertaining to HIV/ AIDS.

The pernalists included; the RDC Ms Margret Mwanamoiza Kikomeko , District chairperson- Mr Sserwanga Tom, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer- Mr Otim Benson Humphrey, District Health Officer- Dr Matovu Ahmed, Senior Education Officer- Mr Senoga Mubanda, Assistant District Health Officer- Ms Busingye Olive and District Inspector of Schools-Mr. Olok Moses and moderated by Mr. Kakaire Guster

The participants included District Health Team members, representatives of People Living with HIV/AIDS, teenagers of Nagulu teenage center, Implementing partners , technical staff and community members among others.  

Among the pre-events of the celebrations include HIV testing and counselling by Uganda Police, UPDF, MUWRP, safe male circumcission by MUWRP,  the football competetion between Kitimbwa and Busaana sub counties, netball competetion between Busaana Sub county and Kayunga Town council that have taken place at Busaana Secondary School and bicycle race for the ladies, youth and PLWHA that started from Nongo trading centre to Busaana Sub county headquarters,
