WATER FOR PEOPLE
A team from the United Nations Office for project Service (UNOPS) which is managing sanitation and hygiene funds globally under the theme “Accelerating access to improved sanitation and hygiene” held an entry meeting with Kayunga District technical staff at the District Headquarters.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the water for people (WFP) project which was identified by MoH to manage sanitation and hygiene funds (SHF).
This project will last for two and half years with a budget of 5M USD in 7 Districts including Buikwe,Buyende,Kabarole,Kole,Kamuli,Luuka and Kayunga. The target sub counties include Kayonza,Kitimbwa,Galiraya,Bbaale and Kayunga Town council.
Stakeholders roles will include supporting the district in implementing of WASH policies and development administration tools that check progress, carryout advocate and lobbying roles to develop sanitation, infrastructure in the District.
District roles in this project will be supporting sub counties, facilitate communities and stakeholder develop to implement relevant government regulations and policies, monitor works on quarterly basis and holding district water sanitation coordination committee meeting.
CAO welcomed the team and thanked the water for people team for choosing Kayunga.
He pledged support and fulfillment of his duties. He further advocated for the boy child’s empowerment and requested similar facilities to be put in the boys section.
The Chairperson LCV equally promised to work hand in hand with the team and pledged his availability when ever need arises.
