AN ORIENTATION MEETING WITH THE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP ON THE DETERMINED RESILIENT EMPOWERED AIDS FREE MENTORED AND SAFE (DREAMS) PROGRAM AT THE DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS

Officials from MUWRP held an orientation meeting with the District leadership on  the Determined Resilient Empowered Aids free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) program at the District Headquarters.

The purpose of the meeting was to make an entry to sensitise technical staff to specifically understand and build interventions to target the young girls and reduce HIV infection and prevention in Kayunga.

Mrs Nakilijja MUWRP said the program is targeting adolescent girls between 10 - 24 years of age who are at risk of infection with HIV and will be given a scientifically proven package of interventions enabling them to be Empowered, Aids free and Mentored after the program.

The curriculum has been approved by MoH, Gender, and Education and the target sub counties are Bbaale, Galiraya, kayonza, Naziigo and Busaana.

The reason why the project is targeting girls is they have sexual partners not in their age group, early marriages and practice transactional sex.

DHO thanked the team for the initiative. He pledged support and urged CDOs to be helpful and embrace the program.

He said for the past week Kayunga has had no cholera case and remaining one week for da District to be declared cholera free.

The RDC thanked the team for the effort leading to the fulfilment of ending HIV Aids in 2030 as the government target.

He registered his commitment of working as a team.

He appealed to CDOs to market this program as an HIV prevention program and give maximum support to the team
