Vice Chairperson LCV, DAO And Agricultural Officer congratulating the Best Vanilla grower in kayunga District.

The Assistant Commissioner Agro business management represented the Hon Minister of state for agriculture Hon Fred bwino kyakulaga at the award ceremony of the best Ugandan Vanilla growers 2024 which took place at Enimiro Headquarters in kangulumila Subcounty, kayunga District.

MAAIF in collaboration with Enimiro Products limited Uganda initiated the best vanilla growers award.

This historical event was the first in Uganda and piloted in 12 vanilla growing districts Kayunga inclusive.

Fridah birekeraho from Ibanda district emerged the best country wide as a vanilla grower.

The event was sponsored by Enimiro products limited Uganda where 10 million UGX was distributed among 12 vanilla growers who were categorized at District, region , youth, female and country level.

He applauded vanilla growers since agriculture contributes 24.1% of the national GDP and 35% of export earnings to the economy.

The Asst Commissioner highlighted challenges of price volatility and market unpredictability emerging from fluctuations in demand and supply.

He thanked Enimiro for championing this initiative and CRS, VANEX, Makerere University, etc

The function was
attended by Vice Chairperson LCV, District Agricultural officer, agriculture officers , Town clerk kangulumila, development partners and other stakeholders.
