LAUNCHING PHASE 2 FOR BBAALE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

The District leadership held a site hand over and launched phase II for Bbaale water supply project at Budaali landing site in Namirembe village Bbaale Subcounty. This project was approved by Kayunga District local council to be implemented in phases due to the limited resources. It started in FY 2022/2023. The project estimated cost is UGX, 1,632,108,527. The estimated period of time is 5 financial years (FY 2022/2023 - 2025/2026). The project is funded using the Rural Water Development Conditional Grant and Ugift funds received from Central Government Funds. Phase I scope of work included construction and installation of a reservoir tank with capacity of 200,000 liters. Which is complete. The contract sum for phase II is UGX,456,778,472. The contractor is LIIM-Ground water exploration and Geo mapping services Ltd.The scope of work includes: 1. Carry out Bathymetric surveys on the river and Hydrogeological investigations a the proposed project sites are  2. Construction and installation of the infiltration gallery system and pumping well. 3. Testing water quality and implementatic of environmental social and health safeguard measures. The contract period is 95 days starting 27 March and ending 30th June 2024. The District Water Officer said this projecl will cover water demand for over 20 years This project is a fulfilment of Government policy that by year 2030 all villages must have piped water system. He requested residents to cooperate with the contractor and also the contractor to employ youths in the area. The Chairperson LCV requested the distric leadership to allow this piped water move to all areas since Bbaale is a cattle corridors. The Rdc urged residents to support NRM Government since this project is a fulfillment of its manifesto of 2030. He urged District leadership to always monitor and supervise this project.
