KAYUNGA YOUTH SUMMIT
Kayunga District youths were overwhelmed with joy after Hajjat Namyalo Hadijja the chief Muzukullu from the Office of the National Chairman NRM empowered youths with tools for wealth and job creation.
This function took place at Nakyesa playground in Kayunga subcounty.
In attendance were RDC, DRDC, DISO, Chairman NRM, women council, Technical staff, youths, delegates from Kakira sugar works.
Mwanje Shafik the Chairperson NRM Bukomansimbi encouraged youths to do skilling instead of complaining about unemployment.
A person without a job, debts and responsibility would rather die. He urged them not to sell what they have received but rather use it to change their lives.
The youth highlighted challenges of poor road networks and negative attitudes of public servants about our positive views towards development.
The NRM Chairperson Kayunga requested the Chief Guest to equip youths with more equipment since the ones brought were few and requested youths to share the equipment. He promised to support NRM together with youths since it's a rich party and all they need is with us.
The Chairperson LCV highlighted water and road challenges in Kayunga and how it has been solved by construction of the Bbaale water supply.
He said the contractor for Kayunga Bbaale road had been got but we're waiting for UNRA to begin minor compensations and constructions.
The RDC said youth programs are failing due to lack of trust and laziness.
He said Government has tried to support youths using PDM, Emyooga, to enrich youths but don't follow guidelines.
He warned political leaders who get this money and fail to pay back to desist from these. Poverty is a disease and called for skilling, amongst youth above 18 years of age.
The RDC further discouraged games like Ludo which waste a lot of youth time and later develop vices like theft.
Hajjat Namyalo Hadijja thanked the political leadership and youths for their teamwork and mobilization strategies towards the success of the youth summit.
She said indeed the items are few but would place us in next year's budget
She cautioned headteachers against requesting for money from parents in seed schools
