Kayunga District lays budget for the FY 2022/ 2023

Kayunga District Local Government has laid its budget for the Financial Year 2022/ 2023 in accordance to Article 190, of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, Section 77(i) of the Local Government Act and Section 13 of the Public Finance Management Act which requires the Chairperson of a Local Council to cause the preparation of a proposed annual Budget.

The District Secretary for Finance, Planning & Administration Mr. Oyeyo Moses acting on the powers of the District Chairperson presented the budget Proposals for the Estimates of Revenue and expenditure for the financial year 2022/2023

According to Mr. Oyeyo, the total revenue stood at Shs 47,788,027,189 as compared to Shs 40,921,918,000 in the FY 2021/2022 which represented an increase of 15% in the overall resource allocation.

The District plans to collect and spend sh. 862,000,000 from locally generated revenue, Shs 44,580,588,286 as conditional Government Grants, Shs 1,212,330,332 as other Government Transfers and Shs 1,133,108,571 from donor funding.

Oyeyo informed council that the out turn of locally raised revenue as at 31stMarch 2022 was UGX 614,138,454 against a budget of UGX 991,923,000 which represented 62% thus performing below the full capacity and attributed this poor performance to the political pronouncements and covid-19 that affected sources like land fees, park fees, market dues among others.

He said that central government, other Government transfers and donor funds were expected to realize 100%.
