Grow Project sensitization meeting at the District Headquarters.

Bank Managers held a sensitisation meeting with political and technical team at the District headquarters.

 

The Government of Uganda received financing from the World Bank to generate the grow project. 

 

Grow is a multi million government project funded by the world bank being implemented by the ministry of Gender labor and social development in partnership with PSFU.

 

Grow loans enable individual women entrepreneurs access credit at a substantially reduced interest rate.

 

 Equity bank, Stanbic, Finance trust, Centenary, Post bank and DFCU are one of the participating financial institutions for the project.

 

Target market:

 

1. Individual women including refugees as sole proprietors and should at least be 18 years and above.

 

2. Vulnerable and marginalized groups.

 

3. Persons with disabilities.

 

Loan eligibility;

 

1. Loans must be for individual borrowers. 

 

2 . A Customer must be a Ugandan or refugee with a valid national identification.  

 

3. Must have an account with the bank. 

 

4. Must have an enterprise that has been in operation for at least one year.

 

The minimum loan amount is 4 million and a maximum of 200 million.

 

Loan period is a minimum of 3months and maximum of 24months.

 

The repayment mode is monthly , quarterly and bi- annually depending on the cash flow.

 

Collateral is land sales agreement, titled land, motor vehicles and fixed deposits.

 

No charges levied apart from CRB fees.

 

Exclusions:

 

1. Not available to customers defaulting in other financial institutions unless they have genuine reasons. 

 

2. Customers engaged in import business 

 

3. Customers engaged in businesses that threaten the environment. 

 

4. Customers with businesses that are illegal.

 

It's important to note that the District has no hand in appraisal of Grow funds.
