Community Sensitisation Meeting at kyedikyo village.

Kayunga District joined the rest of the World to commemorate the Day of African Child under the Theme "Education for all Children." and Gender Based Violence (GBV) fight.

 

The Chief Guest was Hon Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs who was represented by the RDC Kayunga. 

 

He congratulated the children upon this day and thanked the NRM Government for the good leadership of creating an enabling study environment for children through universal primary education and USE program.

 

"through education, children acquire critical thinking, creativity and innovative skills thus being able to respond to challenges."said the Chief guest.

 

He cautioned parents against child labor, neglegence and abuse since most of the culprits are not orphans rather a result of domestic violence. 

 

He pledged on behalf of government to create an enabling environment for children to stay in school till completion.

 

The National Chairperson Women Council noted that the main cause of child abuse and gender based violence was poverty. 

 

She advised women to work hard and protect their children from abuse and child labor.

 

The Senior Probation and Social Welfare Officer called for a collective fight against child abuse and gender based violence.

 

He applauded single mothers for their efforts in the fight against child abuse and promised to purnish those that violet children's rights.

 

The Senior Education Officer appreciated the achievements of the NRM government towards the education sector and appealed for more assistance in areas that were still lacking. 

 

The CAO Mr.Mahabba Malik who was represented by the principal Assistant CAO thanked all Headteachers, implementing partners and Madada Foundation for the support and cooperation towards the success of the ceremony.

 

 He thanked Collins for his tireless efforts towards the fight against child abuse and GBV.

 

The Chief Magistrate condemned child abuse and gender based violence.

She advised parents to closely monitor and befriend their children instead of abandoning them.
